Our Mission

Originally we were called to reach out and to give to Sr. Joan who works in the slums of Bangkok.  Click here to go to her story and webpage.  Slowly it has become evident as to what God wanted us to do in our own city.  Those that serve at The Holy Family House of Prayer were asked to work under the banner of S.O.U.L. This stands for Servants of United Love.  The following reading is very appropriate for our mission.

Luke 12: 35-38

Jesus said to his disciples:
“Gird your loins and light your lamps
and be like servants who await their master’s return from a wedding,
ready to open immediately when he comes and knocks.
Blessed are those servants
whom the master finds vigilant on his arrival.
Amen, I say to you, he will gird himself,
have them recline at table, and proceed to wait on them.
And should he come in the second or third watch
and find them prepared in this way,
blessed are those servants.”

Mission Statement

We strive to imitate Our Blessed Mother by humility and obedience to the Will of God the Father, to trust in the Divine Mercy of Jesus His Son and to be open to the love given to us by the Father through the Son in the grace of the Holy Spirit.

Our Vision

A Catholic faith community, united in the love of God, sharing the Eucharist, proclaiming the Gospel by following Jesus and his teachings, aware of the Spirit working among us.

We exist to:

Promote the personal spiritual growth and conversion of all peoples and to further the development of a friendly, caring community.  Reach out with Christ's love to include all groups and individuals in need of assistance, encouragement and support, especially the youth and the marginalised.  Be a beacon and a witness to Christ living in the world by caring and sharing with others and supporting families and individuals and those not able to defend themselves.

Prayer Blanket Ministry

The prayer blanket ministry has been started to reach out in love to those who are carrying their cross through illness.  Each square is symbolic and the blanket is made up of 15 squares.  A zip is sewn into the blanket to form a pocket so that the person may put a rosary or hanky in the pocket.  A miraculous medal is sewn in one side and either a St. Peregrine (patron saint of cancer) or St. Damian & St Cosmas (patron saint of surgeons) is sewn in the other side.  The blanket is blessed by a priest before it is given.  While making the blanket you pray for the person who you are giving the blanket to.  We would like to encourage you to take up this ministry.  We will be getting together a DVD to show people how to make a pray blanket.  A DVD is available for those who would like to learn how to make a rosary.  Just e mail us with your postal address and we will send it to you.
