Originally we were called to reach out and to give to Sr. Joan who works in the slums of Bangkok.  Click here to go to her story and webpage.  Slowly it has become evident as to what God wanted us to do in our own city.  Those that serve at The Holy Family House of Prayer were asked to work under the banner of Servants of the Little Way and those that serve on the mobile soup kitchen go under the banner of S.O.U.L. This stands for Servants of United Love and because it is an ecumenical outreach we are united in the love of Jesus.  The following reading is very appropriate for our mission.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERALuke 12: 35-38

Jesus said to his disciples:
“Gird your loins and light your lamps
and be like servants who await their master’s return from a wedding,
ready to open immediately when he comes and knocks.
Blessed are those servants
whom the master finds vigilant on his arrival.
Amen, I say to you, he will gird himself,
have them recline at table, and proceed to wait on them.
And should he come in the second or third watch
and find them prepared in this way,
blessed are those servants.”

We open Monday, Tuesday,  Wednesday and Friday at The Holy Family House of Prayer and those who serve here wear blue apron with an emblem of the Servants of the Little Way featuring the United Hearts image.  In a lot of the messages we are called to go back to a simple life and to follow St. Therese of Lisieux and the Little Way.

Mission Statement

We strive to imitate Our Blessed Mother by humility and obedience to the Will of God the Father, to trust in the Divine Mercy of Jesus His Son and to be open to the love given to us by the Father through the Son in the grace of the Holy Spirit.

Our Vision

A Catholic faith community, united in the love of God, sharing the Eucharist, proclaiming the Gospel by following Jesus and his teachings, aware of the Spirit working among us and striving to go back to a simple way of life following the example of St Therese of Lisieux and the Little Way.

We Exist To…

Promote the personal spiritual growth and conversion of all peoples and to further the development of a friendly, caring community.  Reach out with Christ’s love to include all groups and individuals in need of assistance, encouragement and support, especially the youth and the marginalised.  Be a beacon and a witness to Christ living in the world by caring and sharing with others and supporting families and individuals and those not able to defend themselves.

Patron Saints

Each year the very first thing we do is pick out of a basket a new patron saint for the year.  We have a great devotion to the saints and encourage all who visit The Holy Family House of Prayer to choose a saint and to get to know their saint.  We have been blessed to have been given as our patrons for the Holy Family House of Prayer—St Benedict and his twin sister St. Scholastica and St Damian and his twin brother St. Cosmas.  We are given St. Benedict and St. Scholastica for protection and for hospitality and St. Damian and St Cosmas because they were surgeon’s and never charged for their services and we reach out to those who are sick who visit.
